My Japanese Students Could Fold to Precision

This is how I got interested in origami...
I was teaching Japanese (Middle School) students English. The head teacher suggested that we do English instructions (fold, etc.). So we started all doing the crane together.
I was stunned! Both boys and girls had the dexterity of meticulous hand sewers. Their creations were beautiful, while the ends of my wings hardly matched up (and I pride myself in being pretty precise).
After I had ooh-ed and aah-ed and been exposed as a wannabe (but an appreciative one) I received gorgeous, complex creations as gifts at various times during the year.
Origami has an important place in their school art program. Something we could import with great benefit.
